Lakeridge Minecraft Using Luanti, a free Minecraft Alternative

Video games are big in the culture of 10-year olds (e.g. recent Minecraft movie), and it's hard for parents to manage a kid's access.

But why can't we set up our own minecraft, for local kids, with fun worlds?

It could also be a place where kids can socialize with friends.

Luanti is a similar to Minecraft but better...

How?

  1. Download Windows/Mac/Linux/Android from https://www.luanti.org/downloads/ (It's time to get rid of the iPad and use a keyboard, for posture's sake.)
  2. With this installed, log in to the Lakeridge Elementary Server.
  3. Use Zoom to connect with friends at the same time. You can, because you are using a computer now.
  4. Contact me at ben at mathroo.org and I'll walk you through it.

Still wary? Check out the game at https://www.luanti.org and wrest your child's life from profit-seeking companies.

What to expect

  • Survival mode, but not too difficult for new players. Make a shelter before night-fall!
  • Players have to be invited. Contact me to be an allowed player (Dads welcome)
  • Players can protect their game constructions with protective items so that other players cannot come in and destroy.
  • There is a chat feature within the game. If a player uses a banned word, they will be booted off.
